Driving Traffic To New Blog Day Three

May 1, 2008

Hi Everyone.

Ok, I wasn’t really in the mood today, rather slow day.

Recap for yesterday:

April unique visitors = 47. Number of visits 66. 1.4 visits / visitor
April 29th 12 Visits. The next day, April 30th, Visits almost quadrupled with 45 visits.

The 66 visitors noted here in the picture below are ALSO taking note of the visitor count on April 22nd, 23rd, and 26th. These can be
ignored as I was testing out the new Wordpress 2.5.1 installation. But these will be included since the results will not be
skewed by that much since there were online 9 visits during that time.

Traffic received so far

Couple of notes: Onlywire.com, not as good as it once were, all sites used to work, but now: Blogmemes, Blue Dot, Excites, Linkroll, Looklater, ma.gnolia, Rawsugar, Shadows, unalog and xilinus are now social bookmarking sites that don’t load, or site hasn’t been renewed, or no longer receiving sign ups, or have some really weird login requirements. So that left with 12 out of 22 that could be posted to. Wasted almost 45 minutes here and this is what put me off my motivation - I get like that…lol Any way, 12 sites is 12 sites I guess. Tomorrow is another day.

Forums: Entered two special search function in google to find forums related to the keywords I want to rank for and drive free traffic to the blog and hopefully earn some adsense money. During signing up I used Website Content wizard to create variations of a signature file with anchor text linking not only to my top level blog domain, but the posts that have been made so far. Then I used Instant Article Wizard Pro to run a search for a term used in the forum post that I am about to quote, and link up the keyword in text found with instant article wizard to my LTD (Top level Domain, ie, somedomain.com ) and the posts already published automatically using the Wordpress Auto-post scheduler.

Since most phpbb forums only allow 255 chars in signature file, I had to pull out Microsoft word and work out how many chars i could fit in the forum sig file. What I decided I would do is make sure that every forum post has at least my top level domain added in the sig, while alternating the previously published pages in the sig’s so there always 2 links there. While adding 4 of my links of posts already made to my blog about personal loans in some other posts since some forums didn’t allow a sig.

1st May (Day 3)

* Started at 9:54am
* Submit Blog to 37 Link Directories (most time consuming), then had to confirm some listings, 1 hour time spent overall.
* Submitted Top level domain to 12 Social Bookmarking websites (most time consuming). Using Only Wire. 10 Sites out of 22 were down.
* Submitted blog to 9 forums quoting replies asking about a particular keyword related topic. (most time consuming) using a special search engine command to find forums.
* Traffic received before starting 9 visits.
* Traffic received after finishing for the day - 33 visits.
* Finished for the day - Time spent on project 3 hours 58 minutes.

The Good News is that today wasn’t a complete waste of time. Below is what I earned from ONE CLICK!

I had to take out the other details due to Google TOS. $1.58 from one click… not bad eh? ;) Anyone care to Guestimate what the total income will be in 4 weeks from now for a day’s earnings? :)

Make your comments, guestimates below. :)

See you all tomorrow.

All the best

Loz

Thanks for not charging 497 or 187 for this case study. :-). I is getting a lot from this follow along. My guestimate you should easily make $30 or more a day at this rate

    Hi ya Gitazz

No worries, I wouldn’t dream of it. A lot of this information one can find online. I;m just shorting the learning gap for those who are still a little unsure what to do.

$30.00 a day, hmm, that would be nice. :)
BTW, two clicks so far, $2.22, not bad, not that I’m competing with anyone, but Jon Leger did a case study like this and I think he earned something like 80 cents or so in the first week, if I’m not mistaken. Mind you, he did prove a good point that article promotion is a good method. We haven’t even got to that part yet, and when we do, it’s gonna be interesting to see how much traffic we’ll get, and this is without the aid of 3waylinks.net

With my method of getting links the proximity and prominence of the keywords on 3rd party sites will be more optimized. ;) BUT, I don’t think I’ll get as much traffic as Jon for this Niche though, since I’m in a sector that’s highly competitive and takes a while to rank high for terms like “high risk personal loans” “Personal Loans” etc..

Any ways up, the blog is SEO friendly, and doesn’t use a meta description tag to allow the se’s to pick up even more text that’s written on the page.

K, til tomorrow, I’m calling it a day… gonna watch TV for a bit and I’ll see you tomorrow with another update. :)

    All the best

thats nice, in just 3 days your now getting traffic and earnings.
Thats cool man, i’ll watch and try to learn on your blog.

Thanks for that because its free.

  4. Jon on May 1st, 2008 8:15 pm

    I dugg it.

This is very interesting and helpful. I started a blog about two weeks ago and your new blog is getting more traffic after just a few days. I don’t have a single click on my ads yet.

    Jon

  5. Loz on May 1st, 2008 8:20 pm

No worries Skiper :) My pleasure. :)

You dugg it, Jon, top stuff, thanks mate most appreciated. :)
This post has had over 98 hits so far and only 3 diggs. :(
Either people don’t appreciate free info, or they are way out of the loop when it comes to Social bookmarking… oh hum.

Jon, where are you getting your links from? And what niche / sector did you choose? And where are you radsense ads placed? And what color scheme are you using for your Ads?

    Cheers

    Loz
edit. I presume it’s the one you have in your profile here, ineedmoretape?
first thing is that you have your adsense ad right above the fold below a title, that’s now against the adsense TOS. What ya need to do is bring it down a bit just below your first paragraph.
This what I do on my blog for this case study and each one has the same banner type that you are using 468 x 60 and same color scheme too.
Also, I see that your posts have the adsense ad right at the bottom, try moving it up in the middle, cos some people tend to lose focus after a while, idea here is to grab their attention at the beginning or half way through, normally by the time they have read 1/3 of the content they have already made their mind up. People are click happy at this stage and when they see a link as bright as the ones you have there with the color scheme you are using, they’ll click it. ;)

Other than that mate, I’d concentrate on getting more traffic as day 1 - 3 focuses on, blog directories, forums and social bookmarking sites. and the traffic will increase. google search some terms and you’ll find loads. :)

Thanks for the advice. I took the Adsense ads down last night - I want to make sure I am compliant w/ the TOS. I was using a plug-in called Whydowork Adsense. I guess the plug-in needs to be updated so that it doesn’t place ads at the top of the article. I tried having it automatically put the ads in the middle of the post, but the word wrap messed up the formatting.

Do you manually insert the adsense code into you post?

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi ya,

Nope, check this post out, I mention what plugin I use. :)

    Hey Loz,

I “digg” this post! :) Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. And for free no less. I’m excited about following along and implementing your strategies into my own blog.

And speaking of following along, there is no “eNews & Updates” in the upper right hand corner of this page. It’s down there in the LOWER right hand corner! I wouldn’t have seen it if I hadn’t read all the comments. Just thought I’d let you know. ;)

Take care! I look forward to your next post!

  9. Loz on May 3rd, 2008 6:22 pm

    Hi Nima

Thanks for the digg :) And no worries doing this for you guys for free, my pleasure. ;)

re: eNews & Updates, hmm, that’s odd, I just placed the browser in my other monitor and you’re right, I tend to surf with my other monitor which is larger, I keep forgetting about people using smaller monitors, ooops… I guess I’ll have to re-edit the template again.. Thanks for letting me know. :)

I was going to do some work today for Day 5, but I got into a domain name buying frenzy last night cos I came across something that could make some big money, and wanted to get it up and running quickly… but I’ll get into Day 5 on Sunday, or Monday. :)

    cheers again

    All the best

Hey Nima, I’ve put the css style back to the way it was, does the box come out ok for you now?

    Loz couple of points:

1.) I’ve dugg the days 1-2, do you want us to digg every day/post?

2.) Why are you not using socialmarker.com instead of onlywire? Onlywire is becoming PITA

3.) Are you Serious about this? “… you have your adsense ad right above the fold below a title, that’s now against the adsense TOS. ”
-Oh my! I have Adsense right below my header logos on most of my sites!

When did they change it again? = this is why I hate the whole G. business and am working Hard right now to make my living Without the dependance on this Big Brother caprices.

Thank you for a nice study. You help me with my motivation to stay focused a lot! ;-)

    Dagmar

  12. Loz on May 7th, 2008 11:10 pm

    Hi Dagmar,

    1) Thanks for the Digg. Sure a Digg would be nice, not too much of a trouble is it?

    2) Cos I hadn’t had the time to get around to it, plus I need to join all the others first before bookmarking the pages on those sites. I wanted to start off by doing this as quick as I can. But I’ll end up getting around to it. Thanks for the reminder :)

    3) No, it’s not, it’s only against the TOS when you have your title first, then the adsense ad DIRECTLY underneath it. If it’s above the fold and above the H1 fold, then it’s ok.

But even having saying that, it’s just a rumor, in any case, there is no mention of either in their Adsense TOS
    https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms

One thing that I should note is that you MUST have a privacy policy on the page that talks about cookies, etc. :)

Hey, glad the case study is helping ya stay focused :) And cheers again for the reminder on the socialmarker, top stuff. :)

That gives me something to do for day 8 :) thanks bud.

    All the best

    Loz

  13. Dagmar on May 10th, 2008 12:02 pm

Thanks for the explanation. I couldn’t find it either on Adsense TOS, nor did I even heard about it.
I know about the PP - actualy there is even a Privacy plugin for WP for PP, if anybody needs

I am finding all of this very interesting and finding good information. In fact, so much that I cannot remember it all and have to come back and reread things. My website has been up two years and everything is pretty good other than I lack traffic and have found that hard to generate. Thank you for your help.

  15. Loz on May 26th, 2008 2:36 pm

    No Worries Jamie,

    There’s still plenty more to come… :)

Finally, I found a site that I can depend on for good content. THanks!…

Got something to say?
