Reverse Engineering Competitors High Ranking Pages

Yesterday I made a video Keyword Analysis with Keyword Elite which is about 30 minutes long, so it may take a while for you to load, but probably worth your watch.

Today I made another one, this one is 50 minutes long. This time we’re talking about another website for some Debt Collection Agency in the UK, so naturally they’ll want to rank high in the UK Search Engines.

Let’s not forget, even UK Google Search Engine users will also use the .com, so although it’s good to rank high in the .co.uk search engine, let’s not dismiss the .com.

Assuming the site in question that we are going to analyze is hosted in the UK, applying the Reverse Engineering of websites who are ranked for a particular phrase they’ll naturally rank accordingly in the .co.uk search engine. Refer to this article I made Keyword Rankings In Different Search Engines which talks about google.co.uk, .com, etc.

What I tend to do, is analyze the sites that are ranking high in Google.com, jot down all the appropriate notes down of what elements of SEO have been applied to it, and what hasn’t so I can compare with my notes of what really should be done as it will give me a guideline of what the minimum is needed to apply to the onpage and offpage optimization. I’ll do this for each keyword phrase. I’ll also collect along the way possible sites I could request a back link from.

Then I’ll go to the clients preferred search engine they would like to rank in for their given keyword phrases and perform the same analysis there too.

Let’s also not dismiss the fact that the Australia Search engine is used by a lot of UK’ers, Australia has more UK people living there than there are Australians believe it or not. ;)
So I’d perform the same research for that search engine as well. You never know, since a lot of UK people have permanent status in Australia, they could always call back to their family or friends back in good ‘ole England about what they found and pass on the message.

Ok, so if you give yourself about 2 hours per search engine to analyze the rankings of each of the phrases you want to rank for, the top 10 should be enough to help you rank on the first page, jot down all the necessary notes to perform on the next day. Also jot down notes of other places that you know of to get back links. For instance. This page SEO Efforts, More Content or More Links? talks about where to get back links from.

Other places are like GeoCities free web hosting, find places like that, then you have more control, as that too of squidoo.com, create a Lens, do one each day of the week, only takes 30-45 minutes to do a good one. And do not forget Facebook.com. Here’s the thing, going to places like Myspace, Facebook.com and what have you, people are one-nighters I’m afraid, they’ll do it once, realise how much work is involved and decide not to bother to keep doing them. We as humans are always looking for the easiest method to get the best results, well, in life it just doesn’t work that way, we have to put the effort in and treat it like a proper job, what if you didn’t turn up for work one day, would you get paid? Well, you might if you called in a “Sick Day” , but only those last for so long, then what? Will you get paid if you used all your Sick Days up? Probably not unless you’re the boss with partners who can do the work for you.

Once you get into a routine, it doesn’t seem all that bad, what’s better is when you start seeing the results if you keep at it - and you will see the results, and that should be motivation enough, but the first leg must talk step forward, then the other leg in order to move forwards.
